How These Custom Residential Wine Cellars Were Built
With its modern exterior and specially constructed wine room, this elegant home is ideal for entertaining and hosting parties. Since there was an empty wall in the house’s spacious spare room, it was convenient to create a new wine cellar swiftly.
At first, the room had what seemed like red-brown laminated walls and black tiles. The clients might place two leather sofas with one seat outside the home wine cellars, provided there was enough room.
Glass Wine Cellar Doors Crafted for a More Enticing Entrance
Modern wine cellars are designed with metal, glass, and clean, simple lines. Dual-paned glass panels surrounded the front portion of his home wine cellar, and glass doors were erected.
Two single glass panels with a spacer—typically filled with argon gas—make up dual-paned glass. While single-paned glass may be enough in certain situations, this form provides superior insulation.
Steve, our senior consultant and designer, stated, “With single-paned glass, you have to manage temperatures inside and outside the house. However, with framed, dual-paned, and thermally broken glass, the cellar can maintain a temperature of 55 degrees even when it’s a hundred degrees outside.”
There are two French doors at the entrance to the wine cellar. French doors open outward, and guests must pull the handles to enter, which is in contrast to double doors.
The doors may be easily locked when closed thanks to magnets placed between them by the Custom Wine Cellar designers. According to Steve, this useful feature guarantees that the doors close firmly and keep them from being left slightly open.
The Perfect Cooling Unit for this Custom Residential Wine Cellars
To cool our custom-built, contemporary home wine cellars in La Jolla, San Diego, we decided to use the HS 8600 cooling system from US Cellar Systems. Because the noisy parts of the HS 8600 are placed outside the cellar, this high-static, fully ducted cooling system doesn’t create a lot of noise or vibrations within.
Because of its thermally insulated motor, the HS 8600 can maintain static pressure and function well even in hot climates like Nevada.
We routed the copper tubing through the walls and into the condenser behind the wine cellar before beginning the insulation work in the wine room.
Our Custom Wine Cellar team was free to start from scratch when it came to insulation because this is new building. Three to four inches of closed-cell spray foam were added.
The team was free to start from scratch when it came to insulation because this is new building. The back wall was covered with 3–4 inches of closed-cell spray foam, followed by the installation of plywood, greenboard, and mudsand, some texture, and paint. To match the walls outside the cellar, we decided to paint them a shade of brick-red.
Contemporary Custom Wine Racks: An Attraction for this Spacious Walk-in Wine Display
The entire custom residential wine cellars are given a refined touch with wine cellar displays. For our unique design, we chose a custom-built wine rack with a white, glossy finish, even though metal wine racks are frequently utilized.
This wine rack’s lower half has 12 triangle bins, 4 open bins, and 20 drawers. While the triangular bins hold items cork-forward, each drawer has six black metal racks for horizontal storage of standard bottles.
There is a large countertop space above the drawer part that is intended for safely and efficiently handling bottles and decanting wines.
Both standard-sized 750ml bottles and magnum-sized bottles can be supported by double-deep black metal rods in the rack’s remaining upper half.
A large blank wall area that has also been painted sits in the middle of the handmade wine rack.
This area is a great place to showcase a glass mirror or original artwork 920 bottles can fit on this custom wine rack, and there is still room to add more bottles in the future.
RGB Lighting Customized for These Custom Residential Wine Cellars
The lighting in this San Diego unique residential wine cellar is one of its most notable aspects. The customer chose a more innovative approach in place of the widely used white and warm LED lights. They decided to install RGB lights, which may produce an eye-catching appearance by shining through the glass enclosure and into the adjacent room.
The wine cellar’s RGB lights are remote-controlled and can be set to show different colors to fit different moods. Additionally, they provide the choice to flicker or stay fixed. These adjustable settings allow you to change the wine cellar’s appearance just by changing the lighting!
