A Beautiful Traditional California Home Wine Cellar with Custom Features
Another excellent job was completed by Coastal Custom Wine cellars, one of our partners in wine cellar construction. A client in California wanted to transform an area in his home into a gorgeous wine display area. He sought the help of the Coastal team in this project.
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars has been in the construction industry for many years now. They have helped many clients in creating a safe and beautiful wine storage room for their favorite vintages.
In every project they do, they always want to exceed the owner’s expectations. In this particular project, the client had his own design concept in mind. He wanted a functional and stylish wine storage place for his wines and Bourbon collection.
Wine Rack Design Created with Sophistication and Functionality
Your racking design plays a crucial role in achieving the look that you desire for your custom wine cellar in California. Creativity, knowledge, and keen attention to detail are essential to producing high-quality results.
In this wine room construction project in California, Coastal Custom Wine Cellars worked closely with the client. They had to incorporate the features into the wine room design proposal. They combined various racking styles to accommodate the storage needs of the owner.
The Coastal team sent the CAD images to him, and after his approval, they started the construction stage. The client chose Redwood for the wine racks. This wood species has natural oils that make it resistant to mildew and moisture. Therefore, Redwood wine racks can withstand humid conditions in refrigerated wine cellars.
These custom wine racks have an earth tone color that develops over time. Even when left unfinished, they look attractive. The client requested Coastal Custom Wine cellars to finish the wood wine racks with a lacquer to enhance the color of the wood.
Wine Racks on the Right Wall
The client wanted to keep his liquors on the right wall. You will see that most sections on the right wall are individual wine racks. At the top section, an opening for the Bourbons was added. There is also a wooden grill cover that hides the cooling unit.
A display row runs the middle section. The tabletop provides a space for decanting and serving wines. Below the tabletop are case storage shelves with commercial rollers to provide the client with ease of access to his wines stored at the bottom section of the racking.
Wine Racks on the Back Wall
An arch display with a tabletop was placed on the back wall. There is an inset on both sides of the arch for the stemware rack, where the wine glasses are stored upside down. Each stemware rack can hold up to four glasses. Coastal Custom Wine cellars incorporated two drawers below the tabletop and single bottle storage.
Wine Racks on the Left Wall
On the left wall, the Coastal team installed horizontal shelves in the middle section of the racking to accommodate large-format bottles from 1.5-liter- to 12-liter bottles. These shelves have a label-forward configuration to show off the wine labels.
The left wall also consists of individual storage openings and diamond bins. The diamond bins allow for storing wines in bulk and help to have a better organization of the wines. The bottles are stored on top of each other with the neck facing out.
Stylish and Sealed Custom Wine Cellar Door with a Grapevine Design
Your door design has a significant impact on the overall appeal of your wine room. With various doors available, it is not easy to choose the right design for your wine cellar. It is best to consult a professional like Coastal Custom Wine Cellars. They offer pre-hung and customized doors.
In this project, a custom wine cellar designed by Coastal’s previous client was installed. It has an arched top and is called “The Huntington” door because it was drawn in Huntington Beach. Many clients have chosen this door design because of its elegance. The door consists of a wooden frame and a glass panel with a wrought-iron grapevine design.
Wine cellars must be tightly sealed to help stabilize the storage conditions. A low-quality door that is installed incorrectly will cause problems that can affect the quality of your wines, structural integrity of your wine room, and efficiency of your wine refrigeration system.
At Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, they equip their client’s wine cellar door with weather stripping and an automatic door bottom to seal in the cold air inside the wine room. Moreover, sealing components will also prevent the wine cooling system from working too hard to create the ideal environment in the wine cellar.
When the refrigeration unit is forced to work too much, it will eventually have technical issues and might break down. Coastal Custom Wine Cellars does not want this to happen.
The glass panel was thermally insulated to prevent condensation from forming on the door and in the wine cellar.
The Efficient Wine Cellar Refrigeration Unit Installed was Supplied by a Reliable Manufacturer
Choosing the right cooling system for a wine cellar requires technical knowledge and expertise. The correct sizing must be done to ensure that the equipment can cool the wine room appropriately.
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars performed a heat load calculation to determine the ideal size of the wine refrigeration unit needed for the project. They utilized a ductless split-type refrigeration system from Arctic Metalworks Inc. The evaporator was installed through the right wall while the condensing unit was placed outdoors, resulting in a quiet operation.
