Elevating this San Diego Home’s Interior by Installing Contemporary Wine Cellars!

A lot of San Diego homeowners believe contemporary wine cellars would be a lovely and helpful addition to their house.  Their main objective is to safely and efficiently preserve and safeguard the valuable wines inside.

The cellar’s fashionable, modern, and exquisite design serves a secondary but no less significant purpose. We, at CustomWineCellar.com, are pleased to present this exquisite illustration of one of those contemporary wine cellars!

contemporary wine cellars

Through innovative and well-designed contemporary wine cellars like this one, homeowners in San Diego can confidently showcase their passion for collecting and displaying wines.

One purpose of the wine cellar of a lovely house in San Diego was to showcase modern design. We suggested a modern wine room design focused on a contemporary aesthetic since we wanted the cellar to exude the same warmth, friendliness, and glow as the rest of the house.

Our team at Custom Wine Cellar and the Custom Wine Cellars San Diego was excited to take on the project and create a distinctively modern wine cellar because we are experts at designing wine storage solutions that blend traditional and modern elements!

Contemporary Wine Cellars: A Challenging Conversion Project by CWC.com

When you grab a bottle of wine, the soft, serene ambiance reflected in modern and contemporary design may make you feel at home and ease. If you want to create a visually calm room, this is the style to choose, especially if it is visible from other areas of the house.

The contemporary wine cellar in this house is ideally located between the formal dining area and the family room, making it the ideal place to get some wine for any occasion. You can see how the ceiling and shape of the small room are uneven since it was once a powder room under the stairs with a sliding door.

Contemporary Wine Cellars You’ll Wish Were in Your Home
Using classic style in a comparatively tiny area may seem smaller and more cramped. However, modern design’s simple surfaces, lines, and patterns can help us maximize a space’s size. Better yet, contemporary wine cellar designs make a room feel bigger.

Black-Framed Glass Wine Cellar Door for a More Elegant Look

Combining the wooden and metal elements for this contemporary wine cellar is a brilliant idea by our San Diego designers!

A single glass door with black metal framing greets visitors to these charming contemporary wine cellars.

Being dual-paned, the glass panel comprises two glass panels encased in a “spacer.” To improve their insulating properties, these spacers usually incorporate argon gas.

Additionally, the door has a straightforward 24-inch metal handle that is easy to grasp and pull to open and close the cellar door.

The door has a manual lock, a key system for security, and a secondary magnetic lock to ensure the door is securely closed when not used.

Eco-Friendly and Stylish Wine Cellar Flooring

Moving on to the floors, not every wine cellar has new flooring installed. The materials that cover it stay the same, even if some people add layer of insulation.

We chose a distinct hue of wood to help set this wine cellar apart from the space next to it.

After repurposing them, We brought wine barrels to line the floor, especially the staves, which we flattened and resurfaced. Some of the planks still had stave marks on them, which gave the space more charm!

Fusing Wooden and Metal Components to Create These Striking Custom Wine Racks

contemporary wine cellars under stairs

The state-of-the-art contemporary wine cellars built under this San Diego residential home!

There are five walls in this additional contemporary wine cellar under the stairs. We constructed unique wine racks on all sides to make the most of the limited area, but naturally with a twist!

To give the exhibit some personality, we mixed and matched various rack kinds, all composed of metal or wood!

Wooden Wine Racks for Modern Contemporary Wine Cellars

Not only do wooden racks look good in traditional wine cellars but also in contemporary wine cellars! We set up four distinct wooden wine racks in this wine room, each taking up one wall.

The Left Tequila Wall

As you enter this contemporary wine cellar, you’ll notice what our clients like to refer to as their “tequila wall” on the left. This wall, which is devoted to anything tequila, is covered with a specially designed wine rack made of white torn oak.

The individual shelves in the tequila wall are also arranged and shaped in an unusual way. There is an illuminated shelf in the center that we specially constructed using acrylic LED panels.

From the bottom, these panels give the bottles a unique light. We made channels for LED ribbon lights by cutting away ½ inch of wood in several areas of the shelf. Because the lighting highlighted the wood’s deep hue, this added to the shelf’s character.

The Main Wine Wall

The main wine wall, with its four reveal rows that showcase the bottles at a slight inclination, is located directly across from the tequila wall.

Currently, wine bottles are kept upright in the upper part of the rack, which is occupied by crates of various sizes and forms. Deep horizontal storage areas that can hold bottles cork-forward are located at the bottom part.

The Tools Rack

A half-wall-height wooden rack for the decanters and glass stemware is located close to the main wine wall. The owners may pour a glass of wine safely and comfortably because there is plenty of counter space on top. The tools rack is constructed from lacquer-polished white ripping oak, just like the other wooden racks in this cellar.

contemporary wine cellar glass door

Our Custom Wine Cellar designers can elevate your contemporary wine cellars with a sleek, black metal-framed glass door that combines style and security.

Finally, our specially designed wine rack, which also serves as a cover for the cooling unit, is located across from the tool racks.

The height of this rack was lower than that of the other wooden wine racks because it is situated directly beneath the stairway.

Four rows of deep horizontal racks make up this racking system, which arranges wine bottles cork-forward. A wooden louvered grill sits beneath these rows, allowing cool air from the refrigeration unit to flow easily.

Custom Metal Wine Racks with Specialized Wine Cellar Lighting

We set up 17 rows of VintageView’s Vino Rails for this house’s metal wine cellar racks, which are just inches in front of a white stone wall. These rows are arranged by twos in four columns. The ends of the metal racks are fastened to metal posts that are affixed to the ceiling and floor.

We added cool-toned LED lights to the rear of the metal supports to add a subtle glow and flair to this side of the display. Just the metal racking display looks amazing from the outside (and through the glass entrance)!

Metal Racks on the Ceiling?

Racks on the ceiling are another interesting element that isn’t typically present in contemporary wine cellars.

We installed tiling on the ceiling to blend in with the chic, modern décor. This also applied to the area directly below the steps. To create a striking display, we also positioned individual metal bottle holders on the tiles.

Modern Split-Type Cooling System for Efficient Temperature Regulation

An innovative cooling system is essential to a wine cellar. We determined that a ductless split-type was the best choice for this space out of the self-contained and split-type options. There wasn’t enough wall space in this tiny space to set up a duct or a self-contained system.

We brought in the US Cellars Systems RM4600 wine cellar cooling unit to address the problem. In this arrangement, a coil connects the condenser to the evaporator. After running the coil up there, we installed the condensing unit in the attic.

Together with the insulation in the cellar, this strong cooling system would help maintain all the wines’ purity and freshness!
