Building Small Wine Cellars with Stunning Features: An Expertise of Our San Diego Team
At Custom Wine Cellars San Diego, we have extensive experience and knowledge in building wine rooms in limited spaces. There is nothing too small or too big for our team. We can transform small spaces into beautiful wine displays.
We have created exceptional designs that transformed compact spaces into stunning small home wine cellars that will envy guests. We always consider maximizing the bottle capacity of the wine room.
Elegant Small Wine Cellar with Traditional Wooden Wine Racks
One of the small wine cellars our team created in San Diego in a newly built home has a rustic vibe. Our team incorporated racking styles that would create an elegant wine display area for the client’s collection and added natural stone flooring.
Wooden Wine Racks: Perfect for Small Wine Cellars
Wooden wine racks were the perfect choice for the European-style home. Wood creates a warm and relaxing ambiance. Its timeless appeal makes it a favorite choice in interior design.
In this project, we combined stylish custom wine racks consisting of five bottle configurations.
In this wine cellar construction project, we installed wine racks made from Oak, a type of wood known for its durability and beauty even without the lacquer finish. Lacquer produces an unwanted smell inside the wine cellar, so we decided to wax the wood instead. The result was a smooth and shiny finish!
The racking on the left wall consists of individual wine racks at the top section, including a stemware rack that holds the wine glasses upside down. You will also find a square opening for storing wooden cases and wine cellar accessories. The angled display row is present on all the walls of the home wine cellar.
On the right wall, we incorporated single wine racks at the top section and more wooden case storage bins at the bottom. The center wall is the focal point of the wine cellar. It consists of a custom arch with a tabletop that provides a space for serving and drinking wines.
The arch is surrounded by individual wine racks. Below it are cabinets and drawers for storing cloth wipes, wine accessories, and wine cellar gadgets.
The whole racking can accommodate up to 900 standard bottles and 16 magnums. This does not include the cubbies, decanting spaces, and cabinets.
Traditional Small Wine Cellar with Distinctive Features
In another small wine cellar project we completed, we built a wine room beside an entertainment den. The small and narrow space did not hinder us from creating an impressive wine display.
The client collects different varieties of wines. Therefore, our team incorporated bottle openings for standard and large format bottles.
We installed double-deep horizontal shelves on the upper half of the racking and cubicles at the bottom half intended for wooden boxes. Upon entering the beautiful wine cellar, you will be greeted by a large custom arch on the back wall. It comes with a tabletop that provides a space for pouring and serving wines.
Features of the Wooden Wine Racks
The wine racks were made from Maple, a durable type of wood known for its natural beauty. We did not have to polish the wood because it looked beautiful even when left unstained. Maple gives off creamy and reddish-brown hues, making it a perfect option for homeowners who want to create a relaxing atmosphere in their wine room. Other characteristics of Maple that makes it an ideal material for wine racks include high resistance to decay and moist environment and the ability to blend well with any existing décor.
Safety Features of Small Wine Cellars in San Diego
Small wine cellars also need a security system to prevent unauthorized people and children from accessing the bottles and keep the cold air from going out of the wine room.
In this project, the client wanted his limited edition collection of Pinots, Cabernets, Sangrias, and other specialty wines to be safe.
We installed a door lock system attached to the wooden frame of the glass wine cellar door above the doorknob. It consists of a digital keypad where the numerical passcode should be entered to open the door.
Walk-in Small Wine Cellars
Walk-in small wine cellars are a trend in many parts of California, including San Diego. In one of our projects, we transformed a small space into a wine cabinet consisting of an 840-bottle capacity racking. Our team utilized a space that was 20 deep. We allotted 13.5 feet for the wine racks and 6.5 feet for moving inside the small wine cellar.
Combination of Racking Styles
We combined various ideal wine cellar racking styles to meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of the homeowners. We incorporated open diamond bins, wooden case bins, label forward bins, and high-reveal display rows. We used Redwood for the wine racks and applied it with Chestnust finish to go well with the dining room and the kitchen.
