Eye-Catching Commercial Wine Cellar Designs for San Diego Restaurants
One of the biggest problems that a restaurant, hotel, or bar can experience is the failure to reach target wine sales. One factor that plays a major role in marketing success is product presentation. In California, Custom Wine Cellars San Diego and Coastal Custom Wine Cellars created commercial wine cellar designs for two high-end restaurants. Learn more about the features we incorporated to create a compelling design.
What to Keep in Mind When Creating Commercial Wine Cellar Designs
Wine is considered an important commodity in a hospitality setting. Thus, it is vital for owners of a commercial establishment to invest in a climate-controlled wine cellar to ensure that the wines they sell are of good quality.
A well-designed wine room is also essential for proper product presentation. How you display your products has a significant effect on attracting potential customers to try your products.
If your goal is to improve your business’ profit, a mediocre wine display will not help you. Aesthetically pleasing wine displays will tell your customers that your products are of high quality. In order to achieve this, you must hire a builder who has extensive knowledge in designing commercial wine cellars.
Choosing a Builder with Extensive Experience in Wine Cellar Construction
With so many builders out there, it is important to choose the most reliable company in your local area. For these reasons, the owners of dining establishments in San Diego, California, sought our help for their construction projects.
We worked with Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, one of our partners in wine cellar construction, to make sure that the design enhanced the appeal of the restaurant, offered convenience when accessing the wines, and maximized the storage space, which could help boost the restaurants’ profit.
Tasteful Commercial Wine Cellar Design for Nikita Restaurant
The Nikita Restaurant was built with a Zen-inspired design. Zen design is associated with simplicity and minimalism. It promotes serenity and calmness. The challenge for us was to match the relaxing atmosphere of the space and maximize the use of space.
We used metal to achieve a minimalist look and a label-forward display bottle configuration to match the simplicity of seeing and selecting a wine.
Functional Metal Wine Racks from VintageView: Widely-Used for Commercial Wine Cellar Designs
In one of the commercial wine cellars designs we created for a restaurant, we used the VintageView metal wine racks.
VintageView is one of the most reliable manufacturers of contemporary wine racks. Their racking solutions store the bottles in a label-forward configuration.
Metal wine racks are widely used by master builders in the construction of commercial wine cellars in San Diego.
They look very elegant and offer various design options. Metal is also known as a durable material and can complement any existing décor.
Convenience in Browsing and Safety of Wines
You don’t want your clients to waste a lot of time looking for a specific type of wine. Label forward display racks make it easier to see the wine labels.
Since the wine labels are facing up, there is no need to flip the bottle to see the variety, alcohol content, and other important details about the wine.
As well, flipping the bottle will disturb the wine’s sediments and alter its chemical composition.
This may result in an unpleasant taste and aroma. The horizontal storage display also helps keep the cork moist. When the cork dries out, it loses its elasticity and becomes brittle.
When this happens, an unwanted amount of air will get into the bottle and mix with the wine, which will result in oxidation. An oxidized wine smells like wet cardboard and burnt fruit.
Customizing the Wine Racks for Maximum Storage Capacity and Bulk Storage
We cut the commercial wine racks to 3-foot and 4-foot heights to fit the existing 3-row wood shelving. We used floor-to-ceiling VintageView racks near the glass walls and the entrance to the wine cellar.
This type of racking added style and elegance to the restaurant. We mounted these wine racks on steel frames and fastened them securely to the walls and ceiling.
Floor-to-ceiling racks can be installed in the middle of a room depending on the overall appeal that you want to achieve in your commercial modern wine wall.
In a restaurant, it is best to have different wine varieties available in stock. Imagine a high-end dining establishment storing wines in cardboard boxes. This is not an effective way for bulk storage, especially if your goal is to increase your wine sales.
In this project, we incorporated metal X-cube bins to accommodate wines in bulk. We placed them at the bottom of the back wall. The X-cube bins allow for grouping the wines according to size or variety, resulting in better wine management and monitoring.
With our team’s creativity and expertise, we were able to build a commercial wine cellar in San Diego that can hold more than 1,500 bottles in total.
Sleek Commercial Wine Cellar Design for Capital Seafood Restaurant
Another restaurant owner in San Diego, California, wanted to invest in a stunning commercial wine cellar to increase his business’ sales revenue. We had to transform a seven-square feet space into a wine cellar that would store the restaurant’s wines attractively and safely. A proper wine cellar cooling unit installation is our priority.
We surrounded the wine room with 10 feet high glass walls for a contemporary appeal. A glass-enclosed cellar in a restaurant provides a great view of the wines for sale from the dining or bar area.
The glass panels are dual-paned to prevent condensation from forming on the walls. Condensation triggers the growth of mold and mildew, which can potentially harm the cork, wine labels, racks, and the structural integrity of your walls and ceiling.
Combining Standard and Custom Metal Wine Racks
In every project that we do, we always make sure that we use the most suitable wine rack solution to exceed our client’s expectations. We think about form and function when designing wine rooms.
We also take into account the financial requirements of the owner.
In this project, we wanted to create an exceptional commercial wine display without going beyond the allotted budget. We mixed standard and custom metal wine racks by VintageView. The standard components are available in two height options.
Just like the other styles of VintageView wine racks, the bottles are displayed with the labels facing out. The wall-mounted metal wine racks were in single-, double-, and triple-depth. In addition to flexibility, the VintageView metal wine rack system is also a great option for creating an illusion of bottles floating in the air.
