An Elegant Commercial Wine Room for San Diego Restaurants

At Custom Wine Cellars San Diego, we prudently make our commercial and modern wine rooms because they form an essential part of a business. A great-looking wine cellar that captures your customers’ hearts can influence your venture’s success. An excellent example of an exquisitely made commercial wine cellar in San Diego is this compact wine room we created with our partners at Wine Cellar Specialists. We worked with a restaurateur to build this ritzy commercial custom wine cellar inside his Downtown restaurant, which offers a unique charm for all its customers, elevating their experience as they wine and dine.

The entrance to this commercial wine room can be accessed by going inside the restaurant.

Creating a Great Place to Enjoy Your Favorite Wines Fully

A wine cellar is a fine addition to any upscale restaurant. It’s not only about having a storage area for all your wines. Rather, it’s also about leveraging the innate identity of wines as a symbol of class and opulence to invite the right customers.

For this project, the consultants built the wine room next to the wine bar and the seating area, so people could emotionally and mentally absorb the warm and calming atmosphere in it. Regardless of the size and shape of your establishment, professional wine builders can always find solutions to help you enhance your wine section even more.

In this commercial wine cellar, the wines are stored in a label-forward manner so people can recognize the wines more conveniently.

Harnessing the Power of Design to Increase Your Sales

In marketing, design and presentation are essential in effectively communicating your product to your audience. In the food and beverage industry, this includes putting up an establishment with a design that imbibes what your product is all about. If you’re selling wines, you’d want to have a very relaxing atmosphere because it’s what people drink wine for — to unwind and be at ease. The more comfortable your customers will feel inside your restaurant, the more they’ll want to come back.

For this Downtown project, Wine Cellar Specialists built the wine cellar with contemporary design elements. Metal, iron, glass, and wood were the main components for this, and they blended smoothly with the entire aesthetic of the restaurant.

Matte, Metal Wine Racks  for a Modern Take

The team made use of matte-painted wine racks to hold the bottles in a label-forward position. Since the cellar occupied only a small portion of the restaurant, they chose a three-deep wine rack system which they installed from floor to ceiling. Three-deep wine racks are designed to hold three (3) bottles per two (2) pegs, allowing the owner to store more wines than the usual two-peg rack. However, they did install additional, two-deep wine racks near the door.

Who says a wine decanting table inside a commercial wine cellar can’t be interesting?

An extraordinary chandelier makes the entire restaurant wine room unique.

A Striking Chandelier and Table Piece That Gives That Unique Touch

Residential wine cellar owners often go for subtle lighting pieces like LED backlighting or dimmable, recessed lights. However, since this is a commercial establishment, they figured exquisite centerpieces would make the cellar one-of-a-kind. So, the team installed a circular ceiling lamp adorned with an accent that mimicked tree roots.  Near the back wall, they also placed a unique wine tasting table that could easily pass as a museum art piece.

Glass Door and Windows for a Slithering Melodramatic Ambiance

Using glass as part of the enclosure is also an excellent way to complete a contemporary design. In this cellar, big glass windows were installed on two sides of the room — two smaller ones beside the door and one huge rectangular one on the side facing the private dining area. The iron-framed glass windows and doors already exude their own aesthetic appeal. Add to that the allure of the rest of the cellar, and you get a good sense of living in comfort and luxury.

Utilizing Premium-Quality Systems to Preserve Your Wine

More than a cellar’s design, functionality is a priority since the purpose of a wine room anyway is to preserve the quality, texture, flavor, and aroma of the wines. Good thing Custom Wine Cellars San Diego has been in the trade for a long time! The entire team knows exactly how to build beautiful commercial wine cellars in San Diego without risking their structural purpose.

Enough Insulation Can Give You Energy Savings

Wine cellar walls are built with additional insulation to keep the outside heat away and keep the cold air inside from dissipating fast. For this  project, they used spray foam on the walls for proper insulation.

They also brought in double-paned, double-glazed glass for the door and windows. Double-paned, exterior-grade glass prevents any moisture from forming inside the cellar, while double-glazed glass also blocks off harmful UV rays that could harm your wines (this is one of the reasons why some wine bottles are colored dark!).

If your cellar is completely sealed off with sufficient insulation, you won’t have to run your A/C as much to keep the temperature and humidity of your cellar at the right range.

All our residential and commercial wine cellar glass panels are glazed to avoid condensation.

LED lights are used inside commercial and residential wine cellars because they give off less heat.

A Highly-Efficient Refrigeration System That Keeps Your Wines Fresh No Matter the Season

Wine cellar builders like us always conduct a heat load assessment to determine how much cooling is needed for the space. This is considering the size of the room, the materials inside the room, maximum bottle capacity, the kind of lighting, ambient temperature, and more. Based on a deliberate heat load calculation, the  team saw it best to use a 1-ton, self-contained cooling unit from Wine Guardian.

Wine Guardian is a global leader in supplying cooling systems for custom-built wine cellars, wine rooms, and wine closets. They provide high-performing A/C units that also feature humidity controls, so you won’t have to buy a separate humidifier for your cellar.

Good Lighting for a Captivating Commercial Wine Room San Diego Design

The reason why wine cellars have dimmable lights is that direct exposure to intense lights can have a drastic effect on the quality of the wines. Hence, only soft LED lighting was installed in this wine room — not to mention that LED lights emit less heat compared to regular fluorescent lights.
