7. Transitional Home Wine Cellar – A Wine Cellar Construction and Conversion Project in San Diego
On a recent project, our team of top-notch wine cellar builders in San Diego turned an old office space into a transitional home wine cellar. Here, they used glass for the door. For the wine racks, they utilized wood and metal. Putting these materials together created an eye-catching transitional home wine cellar design!
1 - Elegant Transitional Wine Cellar in San Diego
2 - Transitional Wine Cellar Was Built in this Modern San Diego Home
3 - Our team combined various racking styles to accommodate different sizes of bottles in the client’s collection, achieve maximum capacity, and add character to the wine room.
4 - The wine racks look like they were manufactured from the same material that was used for the kitchen cabinetry and furniture in the living area.
5 - There were two large windows on the left wall, which led into the backyard. These windows allowed the area to receive natural sunlight.
6 - The metal racking was placed on the left hand side of the wine cellar, to starkly contrast the light colored stone wall. This racking is from Vintage View and is a two bottle depth, and runs from the floor up to the ceiling. The black satin finish compliments the warm wood nicely bringing together metal and wodd in the transitional style of this Southern California home.
7 - The racking in this custom wine room is set up to beautifully display select wines in the display row, store in the columns above that row, or store large cases in the diamond bins beolw the display row.
8 - Illuminated just right--this wine is set off perfectly by the LED lighting in this display row.
9 - To make both the wood and metal stand out in this home wine cellar, our team carefully selected the stains and finishes for the wine racks. They also made sure that the wine racks are in the correct placement to show off warmth and sleekness.

12 - The ducting in the garage takes the hot air exhaust out of, and away from, the wine cellar in this Southern California home.
8. Modern Wine Rooms – Ashley Falls and Carmel Canyons Contemporary Wine Cellars Project
For this project, the client wanted a contemporary or modern wine room to be seen from their Ashley Falls-Carmel Canyon living room area. With the predominantly white theme of the room, they wanted the cellar to serve both as a wine storage unit and as the room’s highlighted centerpiece. This modern wine room is a true masterpiece by our top-notch wine cellar experts in San Diego!
1 - This modern wine room concept is unique only for this home. Get your own custom wine room today by contacting the Custom Wine Cellars San Diego team!
2 - The most modern thing about this modern wine room is the glass wine cellar door with stainless steel, satin black door handles. The door features a basic lock and key system as well.
3 - Instead of concrete for the usual modern wine cellar flooring, we retained the wooden floors similar to what the owner had in his living room. This helped the wine room feel more woven with the rest of the living space.
4 - 90% of the racks in this modern wine room is made of wood. This photo displays the central part of the rack where there's a small decanting area, some metal decorations above the shelf, X-bins, crate storage area, and slots for standard 750s.
5 - All the wooden wine cellar racks you see in this contemporary wine storage room was custom-built to perfectly fit into the dimensions of the room.
6 - For this modern wine room's metal racking, a pair of rods can hold two fully-filled bottles. If you look closely, you'll see rubber o-rings attached to each rod. These secure the bottles in place.
7 - Here's another angle of the metal wine racking. From this angle, the rods are not very obvious which adds to the modern take of the rack.
8 - There's a total of 6 deep storage areas for wine crates and decanting tool boxes. When we were conceptualizing this modern wine room's design, we had to allocate space for everything that's part of the owner's wine collection.
9 - Modern wine rooms don't have to be extravagant. A simple lighting or chalendier like the one you see in the photo is enough to add more charm in that room.
10 - This is an easy-to-install, split-system modern wine cellar cooling unit. The evaporator is designed to be mounted on the ceiling.
11 - The wine room cooling system is easily controlled by this wall-mounted digital panel.
12 - Modern touches aren't only limited to metal, glass, and concrete. You can also see it in the technology used inside a modern wine room — like this high-reveal row and LED lighting combination!
